#36 - This Week Meets the Cross: Stocks
Sunday Nov 15, 2020
Sunday Nov 15, 2020
This is the 5th episode of This Week Meets the Cross, a weekly episode connecting a current event or noteworthy occurrence with the Bible. Each episode will be 5:03.
Today we discuss stocks, investment, and money. The DJIA is above 29,000 and has been again for approximately a week – additionally, it is always helpful for Christians to be shaping their view on money from God’s word. So, Andrei’s selected topic for this Sunday is investment. We hope you enjoy the short conversation.

#35 - Predestination & Free Will
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Today we discuss a heavily debated and considered topic: election and the will. Is one’s will free? What does the Bible say about election? How can God predestine and our wills remain free? Why share the gospel if God elects? With a focus on Rom. 8-9, Eph. 1, John 6, and other relevant biblical texts, we present a view in line with that of John Calvin and Jonathan Edwards. We hope this discussion is fruitful and helps you more clearly see God’s grace to us in Christ.
Though not an exhaustive list, some good resources on this topic include Sproul’s What is Reformed Theology?, Edwards’ Freedom of the Will, Packer’s Evangelism & the Sovereignty of God and Knowing God, and Calvin’s Institutes.
For those more familiar with the nuances of this conversation: we recognize some of the benefits to an interpretative lens of corporate election, in which a corporate head (Christ) or corporate groups of people (Jews, Gentiles) are the "elect" of God. While there are certainly pros to this interpretation, here we favor the election of individuals, for reasons such as the Greek singulars in Rom. 9:15-21 and particular views on the NT church (although not limited to these reasons; the notes here are just not a space for detailed exegesis or explanation).

Sunday Nov 01, 2020
Sunday Nov 01, 2020
This is the 3rd episode of This Week Meets the Cross, a weekly episode connecting a current event or noteworthy occurrence with the Bible. Each episode will be 5:03.
Today, in light of Election Day in two days, we discuss how Christians should think about politics in a way that honors God and helps our witness to the surrounding culture. This is not a policy or candidate analysis but a framework for approaching politics with a greater citizenship that resides in heaven (Phil. 3:20).

Thursday Oct 29, 2020
Thursday Oct 29, 2020
Many, many evangelical Christians think that Jesus was a great teacher but not God. Many also think that Jesus was a great being “created” by God. This is the backdrop for this episode, as we want to think of our triune God properly.
On today’s episode we talk about thought on Jesus’ nature and the triunity of God by looking into the 4th century. Here we find the Nicene Creed and a man named Athanasius, both responding to a man named Arius and his influence. Why is this creed important and why is Athanasius still significant today? Listen to find out.
