A great way to center one’s life on the gospel and structure one’s life for joy is to create rhythms that shape the day-to-day and week-to-week in all domains of life. This is easily done with a “rule of life” – so today, looking ahead to 2021, we discuss making a rule of life and how it is beneficial. Happy New Year!

Today’s episode is on the Crucifixion and atoning work of Jesus as the story unfolds in Mark 15. We also take short dives into theories of atonement and the theological significance of the supernatural darkness (v. 33), the temple curtain being torn in two (v. 38), Mark’s connections to the Transfiguration, and Jesus being the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53. Additionally, we add some points about how Christians can speak to the trustworthiness of Mark’s story with regard to the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

#50 - The End Times: Sorting It Out (2/2)
Thursday Dec 17, 2020
Thursday Dec 17, 2020
Today we continue last week’s conversation on the end times! Last week, in part 1, we introduced ideas about a tribulation period and rapture and discussed three views on the millennium of Revelation 20. This is part 2 of the conversation, featuring an in-depth discussion of a “rapture” (primarily from pre-tribulation and post-tribulation viewpoints, as explained). Lastly, we talk about where we disagree and then close with a word regarding charity with believers of different viewpoints.
Episode #49 may also be of interest, which covered some related topics as seen in Jesus’ Olivet Discourse in Mark 13.
Feel free to contact us (see below) for our notes on this topic, and we will post them here or somewhere accessible. Also notice below that we are taking questions for our Season 2 Q&A that will release in early January – and feel free to throw in questions on this topic!

#49 - Trials & Glory (Mark 13)
Monday Dec 14, 2020
Monday Dec 14, 2020
Mark 13, featuring Jesus’ Olivet Discourse, is a tricky and heavily debated chapter. Here we try to sort that out, looking at the destruction of the temple, future trials and tribulation for God’s people, and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Olivet Discourse is tied to the study of the end times (known as eschatology) – check out last Thursday’s episode and this upcoming Thursday episode for more on this topic!
